Triple M Toowoomba’s Lee Faulkner hits 4,000 shows
Triple M Toowoomba’s Breakfast host Lee Faulkner has racked up 4,000 shows with the network.
To mark the occasion, Faulkner was joined on air by Toowoomba mayor Paul Antonio, as well as Federal member for Groom, Garth Hamilton, and his three former co-hosts Kim Stokes, Lizzy King and Ruby Slipperz.
Faulkener said despite the longevity of the show, he still gets nervous each morning before the ‘on-air’ sign flashes red, which Triple M said is a sign he never takes his role as the “region’s favourite bloke” for granted.
Throughout his time on air, he has chalked up more than 5,000 interviews, citing his chat with singer Michael Bolton as his favourite.
His other highlights included broadcasting from XXXX Island, broadcasting while swimming with whales at Hervey Bay, and being one of the last people to interview Glenn Frey of the Eagles. He also reminisced about locking himself out of the building before the Breakfast show on ANZAC Day and having to walk past the Mother’s Memorial crowd in thongs to get to a public phone to call the boss to let him in.
In 2018, the broadcaster marked 20 years on air.
