Across the country there have been celebrations for International Women’s Day with this year’s theme, Pledge For Parity.
In the West, Heidi Anderson kicked Wil & Woody out of the hit929 studio to be the phone monkeys for the morning, while Heidi invited Netballer Shae Brown, Faustina ‘Fuzzy” Agolley, Emma Freedman and other to join her as co-hosts.
SCA’s regional network Hit Network brands moved to playing all female acts until 4pm.
triple j went with an all-female line-up across the network. Linda Marigliano was on Breakfast, Zan Rowe on Mornings, Gemma Pike for Lunch. triple j Drive will be covered by Veronica & Gen Fricker with Kaitlyn Sawrey on Hack. At night, KLP on Good Nights, Bridget Hustwaite on Home and Hosed and a special episode of The Racket hosted by Karina Utomo of heavy-hitters High Tension.
triple j’s Hack also explored women in the music business – looking at pay, festivals line-ups and even looking at parity of the genders on peak music bodies and independent labels. triple j’s brands even came under the microscope to see how women are represented with their playlists.
