Hughesy & Kate vs The ABC: Who wore it better?

They say there are no new ideas in radio, but Hughesy & Kate are pretty sure ABC Radio Sydney was deeply inspired by one of their recent segments.

The Hit Network Drive duo played a game called the ‘Hunger Names’ a few weeks ago, pitting the Kristys of the world against the Kirstys.

Two weeks later Kate was tipped off that ABC Sydney Afternoons presenter James Valentine had run pretty much exactly the same segment.

“Exactly two weeks to the day after we did it on our show, and five years after I wrote a column about it for the style magazine,” said Kate.

“To me, that screams of plagiarism,” said Hughesy.

After speaking to Hughesy & Kate’s producer Darcie, Valentine claimed not to have heard the original segment and that he doesn’t listen to commercial radio.
