Hug time: Will The Rush Hour’s Elliott keep his promise to A.B in their last week on air?
A promise is a promise, right? Elliott Lovejoy, we’re looking at you.
As we heard some weeks back, Triple M’s Rush Hour with A.B and Elliott won’t be returning in 2025, as the show makes way for a newly networked Drive offering, hosted by Marty Sheargold.

And so, as Annabelle ‘A.B Brett and Elliott share their final week on air together, A.B has made a last-ditch plea to the people of Queensland, reminding her co-host of a promise he made to her back when the show started three years ago.
The promise? That he would NEVER, EVER give A.B a hug … unless they got sacked.
“Never wanted that to happen,” said A.B on air this week. “But it has! We’re there now.”
With Elliott still refusing to come good with that elusive hug, A.B’s decided to take things to the next level, launching a change.org petition:
At the very beginning, Elliott made a bold promise he probably very much regrets, that he’d give the ever-needy A.B a hug the day they got sacked. Being a filthy New South Welshmen, who are very rarely true to their word, there’s a chance he will refuse to take up this very contractually obligated hug.
Please show your support for A.B’s cause and get her the hug she is owed and deserves!
Get A.B her damn hug!
The target is 500 signatures, but – being a reasonable sort of bloke – Elliott says if A.B gets 325 signatures, he’ll give her a 20 second hug.
He’s laid out some strict conditions, though:
“You can’t baulk, and don’t make it weird. Don’t pat my back. Don’t rub me.”

So Queenslanders, it’s down to you now. And A.B tells Radio Today, she’s feeling pretty optimistic about her chances.
“Despite Elliott being a tricky, slimy dude who’ll try get out of everything, I believe in the people of Queensland, heck of Australia, to side with the good guy here and get me that hug!”
Petition is here.
A.B and Elliott go out on a high, having proved a formidable on air team, achieving their first #1 result in the latest Townsville survey, (up 2.9 to 21.4).
They also recorded the biggest growth of all in their timeslot (up 2.1% to 17.8) in the most recent survey for Cairns.
Putting out fun content despite the situation, incredible attitude from AB and Elliott. SCA doesn’t deserve people like you, and in turn, you deserved better.
Funny how only young people and women seem to be going in these cuts? And before anybody says “young people don’t listen!” That’s only because the industry has refused to take a shot on any young announcers for so long, the youth don’t want to listen to a regurgitated Mick or Marty every year
No AB and Elliott? Sounds like Melbourne corporates deciding what’s best for Queensland.
