Hit103.5’s Carly reduced to tears after receiving abusive phone call

Former Assistant Editor

Radio is an industry where the talent share their lives in front of an audience, as the face of a show or station.

As a result, hosts can sometimes be the subject to harsh words and combative responses from their audience.

One such attack rocked Hit Far North Queensland presenter Carly Portch this week.

Carly and co-host Seamus received an abusive phone call this week, that Carly felt the need to address on-air.

“In this job we put ourselves out there and I pride myself on being exactly who I am on air as the same off the air, what you see is what you get,” said Carly.

“Which I think is why the words cut so deep. I was caught so off guard I found it hard to collect myself the words just felt so targeted and so personal.

“My main reason for addressing it was also that I wanted that person to know that while she might have gone about her day as normal, those words will linger with me.”
