NOVA Entertainment’s Paul Jackson tops TMN’s list of radio’s most influential music minds

The Music Network has today unveiled the first edition of its Top 15 most influential music minds in Australian radio, with Paul Jackson coming out on top.

The list was generated in collaboration with the Australian music industry, to select and rank the list taking into account to reputation, credibility, market size, experience and format competitiveness.

It names NOVA Entertainment group program director Jackson as the most influential mind, citing his work breaking artists like Sam Hunt, Portugal. The Man and Gang Of Youths on commercial radio in the past year.

He’s followed by Hit Network head of music & entertainment partnerships Irene Hulme and triple j group music director Richard Kingsmill to round out the top three.

Also ranking highly is KIIS FM music director Brad McNicol and triple j music director Nick Findlay.

Making up the top 10 for their influence and ability to challenge established ways of thinking, are Hit105’s Jack Ball, Nova’s Scott Baker-Smith, Fox FM’s Dan Hill, smoothfm’s Kate Mason and 90.9 Sea FM/region Hit Network’s Trent Towson.

Interesting. Nova’s workday (it’s prime music shift with the most number of surveyed quarter hours) is either last or second last in every city. The only exception is Brisbane where the music is adjusted locally. I would have thought small matters such as “ratings” and “the audience” may have been more of a determining factor in this list.
