Hayley and Max to depart Adelaide’s Mix 102.3

In the swirling mix of radio comings and goings as we head toward Christmas Hayley and Max, Hayley Pearson and Max Burford, the breakfast team at ARN’s Adelaide station Mix 102.3 will wrap up on Friday December 12 along with their Brisbane colleagues on KIIS 97.3, Robin, Kip and Corey Oates, as was announced last Thursday. Both new teams will be announced at ARN’s Upfronts this Wednesday October 29.

ARN Chief Audiences & Content Officer, Lauren Joyce said:

“We want to thank Hayley, Max and the entire team for their creativity, energy and commitment to Adelaide listeners. Their contribution has been outstanding and will be celebrated in the weeks ahead.

This marks the beginning of a new era for ARN in Adelaide. In 2026, the station will launch a new live and local breakfast show as part of a refreshed whole station strategy focused on bolder content and bigger moments that really set the station apart.

This next phase will deliver differentiated and bolder live content, bigger moments with a strong connection to Adelaide; a step-change in how we entertain and engage audiences.”

Speculation that Kyle and Jackie O would expand into Brisbane seems to have dwindled. The front runner there appears to be Kent ‘Smallzy’ Small who left the Nova Network in August. You’d have to think the front runners in Adelaide, especially if ‘live and local’ would also come from Nova and be Ben, Liam and Belle. They decided to move back to Adelaide in August so that Ben and Liam could be closer to family whilst continuing their networked Late Drive show from there. But then, just over a month later, that show was axed too.

For Mix, Hayley had replaced Ali Clarke at the start of 2025 to allow Ali to focus on her health post a breast cancer diagnosis. Max had joined Mix and Ali at the start of 2024. Hayley and Max were 4th in breakfast in the most recent GfK Survey 6 but have been consistent all year in a tight market.

Hayley and Max are talented and likeable but it was clear the producer/producers did not know how to run that show and maximise that – no pun intended. O well, KJ here we come?

Surely a station rebrand to kiis is on the cards for mix!

@Marshy, if you’re putting this on producers, then it’s clear you haven’t listened to Mix a great deal… The show has been average for a few years now. Day-to-day content has been regional-tier at best.

Re, possible Mix > KIIS rebrand in Adelaide: Surely, ARN have been thinking about doing this for at least few years now? Logo colours were changed to the standard KIIS style a while back, all they really need to do now is change the “MIX” text to “KIIS”!

The big question of course, is whether the “live and local” strategy will continue in the long run.

Meanwhile, what about Cruise 1323 in 2026? Do we expect that station to continue with its current format, be rebadged as Gold or even sold?

All the best H&M, but he show was great when Ali and Shane Low were there. Bad decision to let them leave.

Corey Oates at SN because his former Broncos teammate Corey Parker is already there very logical isn’t it?

I smell an ARN revenge story…

J+L rode high from sympathy after they got dumped and saved by Nova. Ben and Liam to do the same in Adelaide? Young, energetic, charismatic and SO Adelaide with a chance to get back at the ones that dropped them.

Game on.

Agree with previous comment they had a good thing with Ali and Lowe. They were two complete opposites so it was a fun listen.

@a listener of adelaide radio – incorrect! I give it a listen most mornings. Agreed over the years, there has been peaks and troughs but Hayley and max should have been a winning formula imho. More than all the chopping and changing of previous incarnations of the show. When you have a winning formula on air and it ain’t working, then that is poor producing.

Shame pn Mix to make Michelle Murphy redundant. She is the best presenter on radio and talks calmly, has humour and is such a good listener to people.
