Glitzy showbiz was the theme at yesterday’s memorial service for Adelaide radio legend Leon Byner, who passed last month at the age of 77 after battling leukaemia.

Byner was remembered at the service as a great advocate who never let his listeners down and had a knack for bringing them into his discussion web.

The service was held at Byner’s beloved Piccadilly Cinema in North Adelaide, where guests were treated to a video montage of his interviews with Hollywood A-Listers.

Byner was a staple of Adelaide’s commercial radio scene for more than 20 years, before retiring from the airwaves in December 2022.
