Gillard and Abbott to host smooth show

Staff Writer

Further to our piece from earlier on some fun Australia Day content doing the rounds on radio (here), smoothfm have announced that Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott will each host their own show on the station this weekend.

They will play some of their fave songs during the hour they are hosting.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard's show will air at 9am on Australia Day, while Opposition Leader Tony Abbott's show will air at 9am on Sunday.

dmg Radio Australia’s Group PD Paul Jackson said:

“It takes something special to bump Michael Bublé and Ronan Keating from their regular weekend shows. We’re delighted that Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott have jumped at the opportunity to take over smoothfm this weekend.”

After the PM's show, Richard Wilkins will host a three hour show featuring lots of Aussies including Matt Preston, Daryl Braithwaite, John Farnham, Eamon Sullivan and Adam Gilchrist.

Tina Arena will also make her smoothfm debut with her show airing from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
