GfK Survey 7: Will it pose more questions than it answers?
UPDATE: Results now available here.
GfK Survey 7 lands this morning, and even though we’re now just four weeks shy of Christmas, hang onto your Santa hat, because for radio teams, there’s no taking the foot off the pedal just yet.
Under changes to the ratings system, GfK Survey 8 – the actual final book of the year – is being measured from October 5 to December 13, with the results being released on January 20th, 2026.
So tomorrow’s result will likely pose more questions than it answers, particularly for the shows to be launched in the new year.
Survey 6 saw Nine’s talk radio stations in Sydney and Melbourne dominate the overall state of play. Will that continue minus footy finals but fuelled by a non-stop volatile news cycle? Is Ray Hadley poised for a return?
Regardless of what figure they deliver in Sydney and Melbourne, the ongoing talk surrounding Kyle and Jackie O will continue, fuelled mostly of course by Kyle when the jungle drums taper off. Will they finish with a bang?
ARN will be hoping for a positive result to smooth the transition of Jonesy & Amanda to Drive and introduce Christian O’Connell to the Sydney FM Breakfast market. What are Gold’s prospects?
With so many lineup changes already announced for 2026 in every state and network, tomorrow’s results could well be an anti-climax. Or not.
Radio Today will have all the results and all the spin at 9:30 tomorrow morning (Tuesday, November 25).
