Full steam ahead for Magic 1278’s Jon Vertigan after spinal surgery

A year on from spinal surgery – Jon Vertigan has quite literally hit the ground running.

Jon – ACE Radio Content Director and Afternoon host on Melbourne’s Magic 1278 – will take part in this weekend’s City to Surf fun run in Sydney.

Jon spoke to Epworth Healthcare about his journey with lower back pain.

“I was in so much pain that I couldn’t stand for long.”

A keen runner, Jon swapped marathons for swimming to maintain his fitness.

After surgery to remove a disc, Jon later underwent a significant spinal operation at Epworth Geelong.

 The 2 hour procedure was performed with the assistance of a 2.4 million dollar CT theatre scanner.

Now, Jon’s taken up running again, joining his daughter Chloe and her boyfriend in training for the City to Surf.

Jon says “I can’t wait for Sunday when I get to do this run with two of my faves.”
