Footscray – “the Pearl of the South”
Some strong local content from Jo & Lehmo with the launch of their Suburban Soundtrack Party, which will take place on December 1.
Throughout November Gold 104.3 listeners have been buidling Jo & Lehmo’s Suburban Soundtrack, a playlist of 10 songs representing Melbourne suburbs. The listeners then selected Footscray as the ideal location for the Suburban Soundtrack Party.
The songs representing the 10 suburbs are:
• Dandenong – Gangsta’s Paradise
• Sunshine – Shaddap Your Face
• Yarra Glen – Red Red Wine
• Sunbury – Smoke on the Water
• Richmond – Leaps and Bounds
• Coburg – Jailbreak
• St Kilda – Joyride
• Footscray – We are the Champions
• Melbourne CBD – Buses and Trains
• Epping – Working Class Man
Of the final Suburban Soundtrack playlist, Jo said:
“I have loved our listeners’ suggestions for their suburbs. So fun and creative! We could have filled the 10 tracks many times over, but the listeners voting definitely pulled together the best mix of incredible songs, and a great tribute to our beautiful city.”
“I am absolutely pumped to be partying with our listeners to celebrate our suburban soundtrack. Diesel playing live guarantees that this will be a ripping shindig and an appropriate way to finish off a great year,” Lehmo added.
And seeing as the Suburban Soundtrack Party will be in the iconic working class suburb of Footscray, this song from legendary The Ferrets lead singer Billy Miller about his home suburb of ‘The Scray’ sums it up pretty well !
