Fitzy & Wippa continue to campaign
Last month Nova 969's Fitzy & Wippa announced their support of the "I Do" campaign.
At the time they said, “For us this isn’t about Marriage Equality, it’s simply about Equality. We’re proud to support the “I Do” campaign and do whatever we can to bring about equality for all Australians.” (see the full story here)
Well, true to their word, they are continuing to campaign and want to marry a same sex couple. This is after they discovered a loophole with Commonwealth marriage laws, which allow them to host a wedding and marry a same sex couple without going overseas.
On their Sydney breakfast show this morning, the boys spoke with Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott about coming to the wedding.
The Prime Minister said she sends her “very best wishes to anyone who is in a joyful loving relationship”, but politely declined attending the wedding, even though she wasn't told the date yet…

Opposition leader Tony Abbott offered to be the best man, but added….“there are some great traditions that we should try to uphold”, and “the important thing is to respect everyone’s opinion and look I guess I do respectfully disagree with some people on this one.”

Currently, 29 nine senators support marriage equality, meaning there only needs to be 10 more votes for a Senate majority.
I don't think this is the last we've heard of Fitzy & Wippa's campaign.
