First speakers announced for 2019 Radio Alive conference

Staff Writer

The 2019 ACRAs are just weeks away, and Commercial Radio Australia has just unveiled the first round of speakers for the Radio Alive conference.

Leading the lineup is investigative journalist Hedley Thomas, who was behind The Teacher’s Pet podcast series. He’ll act as the keynote speaker for the conference in Brisbane.

Thomas will chat with 2GB’s Ben Fordham about the power of the podcast format for story-telling.

He is the only reporter to have one the Gold Walkley twice, with the podcast having gained over 50 million downloads worldwide.

Others to join the speaker lineup include industry leaders SCA’s Grant Blackley, NOVA Entertainment’s Cathy O’Connor, HT&E’s Ciaran Davis and Macquarie Media’s Adam Lang.

“The conference will be an important opportunity for the radio industry to explore trends in audio, the growth of podcasting, and how technology is changing the way consumers access entertainment and information,” said CRA chief executive Joan Warner.

Radio Alive 2019 takes place at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane.
