Deaksy celebrates 20 years of hosting 3GG Breakfast

A Victorian regional radio legend is soaking up the celebrations today, with Andrew ‘Deaksy’ Deak notching up 20 years of hosting Breakfast on Gippsland’s 3GG.

The Capital Radio Network station’s main studio was decorated in honour of the occasion, with on-air colleague Aaron Chilcott surprising Deaksy this morning with an audio montage from a host of well-wishers including the local Federal Member of Parliament, Mary Aldred.

At midday, Deaksy – who started on Gippsland radio in the Latrobe Valley back in 1998 – in was gifted a caricature of himself by acclaimed Herald Sun cartoonist Mark Knight.

“They say if you find a job that you love doing, you’ll never work a day in your life. That is exactly how I feel,” Deaksy said on air.

“Thank you so much. I’m trying not to tear up.”
