Triple M Perth launches Dead Set Legends with Xavier, Mickey & Britt

Staff Writer

Xavier Ellis, Michael ‘Mickey’ Barlow and Britt Taylor will front 92.9 Triple M Perth’s new Dead Set Legends weekend sports show.

Ellis already co-hosts Triple M Breakfast in the city alongside Basil Zempilas and Jenna Clarke, and forms part of the station’s AFL call team in Perth.

Taylor, meanwhile, is a racehorse owner and was the first female jockey to provide post-race interviews over the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Triple M noted she will bring her enthusiasm for women in sport to the program.

Rounding out the lineup is former Fremantle midfielder Barlow, who noted with Ellis’ background with the West Coast Eagles and Hawthorn Hawks, there would be a bit of competition for air time.

“I can’t wait to give Xav a sledging. It’s been a while and I guess this time I’ll need to be careful with the delivery,” he said.

92.9 Triple M Perth’s content director, Tim Arnold, said the station’s talent lineup is now complete.

“It’s exciting to have 92.9’s Triple M roster now complete. I know Xavier, Mickey and Britt will complement the Dead Set Legends brand that Triple M listeners already love across Australia – it’s going to be a lot of fun and great way to start the weekend,” he said.

The station launched in December last year, with a Workday lineup including Dan Leach and Cat Lynch. It has subsequently launched Triple M’s Ruch Hour WA with Lachy & Embers, featuring Lachy Reid and Andrew Embley.

Its Breakfast program, meanwhile, launched ahead of schedule, with co-host Zempilas saying he wants it to be #1 within five years. The head of the Triple M Network, Mike Fitzpatrick, has also also spoken about why he’s backing the program and will avoid knee-jerk reactions to ratings or feedback.
