Crocmedia announced as official radio partner for Perth’s Optus Stadium

It’s been a big couple of weeks for Crocmedia as it positions itself as a major player in sports broadcasting and events.

Just days after a proposed merger with Pacific Star Network was announced, Crocmedia has now been revealed as the official radio partner of Perth’s new Optus Stadium; the third biggest stadium in Australia.

The five year deal delivers unique opportunities for the syndicated content creator, which will see it call West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers matches from one of its two premium boxes in front of fans.

“We welcome Crocmedia as an official partner of Optus Stadium,” says Optus Stadium CEO Mike McKenna.

“The team has a proven record of delivering quality content for sports fans and we look forward to working with them to share Optus Stadium experiences with fans via our digital platforms.”

Crocmedia group commercial director WA Paige Wright said the company was proud to partner with the new stadium.

“The 60,000-seat venue is set to become the centre of sport in the State, so it made sense for us to be a part of bringing this world-class Stadium to life”.

It’s a bit of a coup for Crocmedia, which has had a presence in WA for a few years now.

It’s produced unique stand-alone programs including Sportsday WA on 6PR and Spirit and Radio West in Regional WA, while the Footy WA show on Channel 9, hosted by Scott Watters, is also part of the Crocmedia stable.

The 1.5 billion dollar Optus Stadium will officially open on Sunday January 21. Fremantle play Collingwood in round 2 of the AFLW on Saturday February 10.

Wait…. what?

Official radio partner of the new stadium.

So… they get a commentary box like any other station that calls there.

What’s the purpose of the deal again? Doesn’t sound like anything special.
