Changes for the ABC?

He is the new kid on the block, our new Communications Minister Mitch Fifield. He appeared on RN Drive with Patricia Karvelas yesterday to talk about his new senior portfolios, Communications and the Arts.

Patricia wasted no time in prompting the Minister about his speech from 8 years ago, when he spoke of privatising the ABC. What is his position now with the ABC and how did he defuse it?

Triennial Funding for the ABC was also discussed:  “Negotiations are just that. It’s various parties sitting down….. each with a starting point…. and hopefully reaching a point of agreement in the middle”, said the minister.

Patricia then highlighted how former PM Tony Abbott: “Did promise not to cut funding to the ABC and SBS, will it be honoured?”.
