Celebrations as 3CR turns 50
3CR in Melbourne is celebrating 50 years of giving voice to those denied one in mainstream media with a Community Day to be held on July 4. The station is also holding a Radiothon across June with the aim of raising $300,000.
3CR commenced in 1976 and now has more than 400 volunteers and 7 paid staff. The station has around 120 radio programs and numerous podcasts each week including 20 community language shows and 10 hours of Indigenous programming. It features shows in 13 different languages and plays at least 55% Australian music.
The Community Day on July 4 will be held at Collingwood Town Hall between 11am-4pm and is free to attend. There’ll be stalls, activities, food, music, prizes, and limited edition merch and posters from the archives.
You can listen to 3CR live on 855AM, on digital radio and via streaming.
