Cameron Hilder to host i98FM Workdays
Cameron Hilder is the new Workdays announcer on Wollongong’s i98FM.
Hilder is currently the operations manager at NOVA Entertainment in Sydney, a role he has held since December.
He’s also been in operations and announcing at SCA in Townsville, but started his career as part of the Street Fleet at i98FM back in 2017.
i98FM’s station manager, Tia Davis, said the station has kept an eye on Hilder since he left, in recognition of his enormous potential.
“With the experience has has gained both in Breakfast radio as well as at NOVA in the metro market, his talent and skill have continued to grow exponentially,” she said. “When the opportunity for a Workday announcer came up, he was the first person we approached and I couldn’t be more thrilled that he is returning to i98.
“Cam epitomises the values of i98, understands our audience and the Illawarra community, and I know our listeners will love him as much as we do.”
The station’s content director, Andy Huxton, was also full of praise for the returning recruit, noting what a significant moment it is for both Hilder and the station.
“This marks an exciting transitional time for the station, and Cam returning to i98 is a big piece of that puzzle,” he said.
“He is exceptionally talented, vibrant and will make an exciting addition to the on-air team.”
Hilder said it feels unreal to be coming back to where it all started.
“This is where I first got to see the inner workings of a radio station and how i98 has such an impact on the Illawarra community with things like the i98FM Illawarra Convoy. No matter where I’ve travelled to, the Illawarra has always been special to me, so like the Euro trophy to England – I’m coming home. Except, I’m actually coming home.”
Workdays with Cam will launch on Monday, August 23.
The station is also currently recruiting for a new Breakfast host, after Ryan Cram and Lyndal Rogers defected to Grant Broadcasters’ 96.5 Wave FM to host Drive.
