Has Karl been cut loose by ARN?

Karl Stefanovic has reportedly been axed from The Long Weekend, the radio show he co-hosted with Eddie McGuire on ARN’s GOLD Network.

Stefanovic was absent from last Friday’s show, choosing to step aside in the wake of his controversial podcast interview with right wing UK activist Tommy Robinson.

According to the Australian Financial Review (subscription required), sources with knowledge of Stefanovic’s contract with ARN – who requested anonymity to discuss confidential information – said the network has this week made the decision to end the relationship.

It says McGuire will continue to host the show – which will likely be reframed around him.

Both Stefanovic and McGuire have been contacted about the latest reports. ARN has declined to comment.

During the opening of last Friday’s edition of The Long Weekend, McGuire said he would be speaking exclusively to Stefanovic this week about “the most tumultuous few days of his career.”

It’s not yet clear whether this chat will now go ahead.
