Staff Writer

‘Lanterns’ from Birds of Tokyo has been the most played song on Australian radio in 2013.

AirCheck figures show the song was played 17,419 times, with ‘Let Her Go’ from Passenger only 43 spins behind in second place.

Keith Williams, RCS Vice President Asia Pacific said:

“With almost a thousand more spins than the winner last year, Lanterns from Birds of Tokyo occupied a massive 1,166 hours of radio airtime over the year. Mix 106.5 in Sydney played it more than any other station in Australia (803) with Melbourne’s Mix 101.1 second (726). It is great to see two Australian songs in the Top Ten at number one and Vance Joy at number ten in this year’s chart.”

AirCheck checks the airplay of songs and commercials on ALL 48 commercial radio stations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Perth, Central Coast, Newcastle and Geelong, plus triple j and FBi-FM in Sydney.
