Ben, Liam & Belle lift the lid on the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge

Nova 100’s Ben, Liam & Belle wanted to find out what was happening behind closed doors at the exclusive Qantas Chairman’s Lounge, and one listener came through with the details.

The secret Qantas lounge caught public attention a month ago when the PM’s son received an invite to the club from former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce himself, who has referred to the lounge as “probably the most exclusive club in the country.”

The invite left Australia wondering – what is going on behind those doors?

“It’s almost like Freemasons type stuff,” said Ben.

“Like do they have a secret handshake? 13 2014. If you’ve been in the chairman’s lounge, give us a call. I know. That’s a long shot. Yeah. Even if you could just tell us where it is in Melbourne Airport.”

Thankfully, Andrew from North Ringwood called to spill the beans on the perks of the lounge, and it’s not the first thing everybody would expect.

Andrew revealed the main difference between the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge and the business lounge is you don’t have to worry about making your own toasties…

“Sometimes you’re fighting to get a seat [in the business lounge], and certainly the most important yardstick to me is the toasting machine, and you have to wait – that’s no good,” Andrew said.

“In the chairman’s lounge, like seriously, they come to you, you just order your toastie, and they bring it to you, and you can go off the menu so you can ask for something that’s not even on the menu, and they’ll do their best to make it.”

Perplexed by Andrew’s confession, the Breakfast trio soon wondered if something more substantial might be happening in the hidden room.

“Do they do massages? Do they do foot rubs and stuff? Or are we on the wrong thread here?” asked Liam.

“Yep,” said Andrew. “Now there’s. . . in through normal hours, you get spa treatment as well. Yep.”

“I love Andrew that you lead with toasties to be dimensioned there was massage,” said Ben.
