Ausmusic Month on triple j, Double J and triple j Unearthed

November is Ausmusic Month, the ABC’s annual month long celebration of Australian music. Here’s  what they have planned across  triple j, Double J and triple j Unearthed. 


TRIPLE J

For a third year running, triple j are asking peeps to put on their fave t-shirt by an Aussie artist on Fri 18 Nov. Take a photo and tag it with #AusmusicTshirtDay to be part of a massive Australia wide tribute to great Aussie music.

Throughout Ausmusic Month they have Live at the Wireless sets from SAFIA, Big Scary, Montaigne, and Violent Soho, 8pm Mondays. Plus a month of all-Aussie Like A Version covers by The Jezabels, Amy Shark and Elk Road, closing with a massive A.B. Original collaboration, 7.30am Fridays.

Triple j also  announce the 2016 J Award nominees on Weds 2 Nov. Winners announced on Thurs 17 Nov.

TRIPLE J UNEARTHED

This November they celebrate 10 Years of triplejunearthed.com by throwing a free party with some of their all-time favourite Unearthed discoveries, including live sets by Allday, Northeast Party House, Alex Lahey and Ali Barter, as well as a few surprise collaborations. It’s FREE, 18+ and all going down as part of Melbourne Music Week, at Victoria’s State Library.

triple j Unearthedalso dives into a decade of discoveries on 8pm Thurs 3 Nov with a special Unearthed J Files hosted by Dom Alessio which will be simulcast – for the first time ever – on Double J, triple j and Unearthed digital radio.

Then on triple j we countdown the 100 Best Discoveries of triplejunearthed.com with some classic debut tunes and interviews, Sat 12 Nov.

DOUBLE J

Double J will feature some incredible live performances straight from the stage, kicking off with A Day on the Green, where we’ll play you live sets from You Am I, Something For Kate, Spiderbait, Jebediah and The Meanies, 6pm Sat 5 Nov.

Duble J will also be broadcasting Crowded House’s triumphant return to the iconic Sydney Opera House steps, playing their highly anticipated set live from 7.40pm Sun 27 Nov. You can catch it on Double J and ABC TV, as well as via a live-stream on iview and on the ABC TV Facebook page.

Plus you can tune into a live show and conversation with The Waifs on how growing up in Western Australia and traveling the world affected their sound, 7pm Wed 9 Nov.

All month Double J will be presenting all-Australian J Files, delving deep into the history of your fave Aussie musicians, including Magic Dirt, Silverchair and Crowded House, as well as an in-depth look back at 10 Years of triple junearthed.com, 8pm Thursdays.

You’ll also hear the latest all-Aussie Feature Albums, and Caz Tran gets you all nostalgic with the Classic Aussie Albums you grew up with, from Midnight Oil and Do Re Mi, to The Cruel Sea and Gotye.

And Phil Jamieson from Grinspoon into the Double J team as Artist in Residence for Ausmusic Month. Phil’s weekly radio show will celebrate the joy of music discovery – heavy on Aussie tunes from the 90s and 00s, with a special segment devoted to his fave music from Unearthed, 3pm Sundays.
