Alex Dyson put the call out for Australia’s Dirtiest Radio

triple j Lunch presenter Alex ‘Dyso’ Dyson was inspired by a chat with a listener to run a fantastic competition; the search Australia’s Dirtiest Radio.

Talking with listener Ryan who was doing some tiling as he called in, Dyso said “I see a lot of radios around work sites that get a bit of dirt on them. You get a bit of dust and everything in the wireless?”

“Oh, mine’s putrid. Absolutely putrid,” responded Ryan.

The ever-innovative Dyso responds, “I reckon we should run a competition: Australia’s Dirtiest Radio.”

In the minutes that followed, the triple j textline was inundated with some gloriously filthy radios, the best of which Alex shared on his Instagram story.

He was also informed by another listener that many of the dirtiest radios are actually known as ‘tradios’ by the tradies who own them.
