Alan Jones doesn’t rule out return to radio on Kyle & Jackie O Show
Former Breakfast radio host Alan Jones made a brief return to radio this morning on Sydney’s new #1 radio show The Kyle & Jackie O Show.
Jones used the opportunity to rail against the current New South Wales COVID-19 lockdowns, however some of the claims he made about the deadly virus were beeped out by the Australian Radio Network (ARN).
Radio Today has asked ARN for clarification around why it beeped out some of Jones’ claims, but not others.
Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson also asked Jones about his rumoured return to radio.
For decades, Jones was at home on radio, but he finished up his stint hosting 2GB Breakfast last year, and was replaced by Ben Fordham. He now hosts a program on Foxtel’s Sky News.
Jones was non-committal either way, only saying that a program with him and fellow radio veteran John Laws would be “a very good idea”.
“You’ve got to be full bottle on what you’re doing at the time. I think in radio you have greater scope in radio, don’t you? There’a a lot more stuff you can do. Television is a much tighter format, and we are Sky News, so it’s predominantly news.
“Whereas I think Ive got a lot of other interests as well, which I like discussing, which I used to like discussing with my audience. So, in a sense I think once you’ve been in it as long as I’ve been in it, I suppose part of it is still there. But I enjoy what I’m doing, Kyle and Jackie, I enjoy that and it’s good intellectual challenge and I think you’ve got to keep that going.”
Jones joked he wouldn’t return to Breakfast and steal back the #1 position in the timeslot.
