Hit’s Aaron Chilcott interviews his 16-year-old self live on air

Staff Writer

Hit Gippsland program manager and daytime announcer Aaron Chilcott recently recalled turning 16 in the year 2000.

He chatted with listeners about how crazy it felt that 2000 was 20 years ago now, and pondered what it might be like to interview his younger self live on air.

So the next day, Chilcott’s 16-year-old self came into the studio for a chat.

Listen to the chat here:

So how did he do it? He revealed his secret to us…

“I did my year 10 work experience at a community radio station,” Chilcott tells Radio Today.

“All week, the various presenters brought me into the studio to chat on air. My family were taping it on cassette off the radio for me.

“I decided to cut up all of my answers to the questions I was asked back in 2000, and I “repurposed” them by asking fresh questions here in 2020.”

The magic of radio indeed!

Well done Aaron, this would have taken a long time to create, script and build. You’re a super talented guy, a good bloke, and flair for trying something different every so often. Congrats mate.
