92.7 MIX FM to broadcast live from France

Staff Writer

92.7 MIX FM’s Mark and Caroline are gearing up for a very special broadcast, live from Villers Bretonneux in France.

The broadcast will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the World War I Armistice, this Sunday, November 11 from 9am-11am.

Mark and Caroline will speak to residents of the region about the impact of the Australian troops in the region during the war.

The show will also feature stories of Sunshine Coast locals who served their country.

“It will be a great honour to follow in the footsteps of these heroes –
including my grandfather,” said Mark.

“In WW1 more Australians had close associations with the battles around France than with Gallipoli,” added Caroline. “There are so many local stories and Mark and I can’t wait to bring those stories to air”.

Group content director Rod Brice told Radio Today that listeners have been excited in the build-up to the day.

“Leading into the broadcast for the past two weeks we have had a variety of locally-produced 60-second segments by Mark and Caroline with stories about Sunshine Coasters who have served in WW1 and in other conflicts as well as historical stories about the Australian contingent who fought so strongly,” he said.

“That has brought out even more stories from families who have had loved ones who served and still serve. It has been an incredibly positive and uplifting response.”

Mark and Caroline’s Armistice Day Live broadcast from France can be streamed online via the station’s website.
