91.1 Hot FM Breakfast announcer Sam Coward is getting ready to swap the comfort of the studio for a night behind bars as he takes part in the Lookout 07 Lock Up Challenge this Friday night.

Designed to raise awareness and vital funds for youth mental health and wellbeing initiatives, the challenge will see Sam locked up alongside Lookout 07 Founder Leon Stensholm and Powderfinger’s Jon Coghill (all pictured above with Sam’s Breakfast co-host Ashlea Gierke)

Participants will be tasked with raising bail through community donations to secure their release.

Lookout 07 has become a powerful force on the Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, providing support, connection and hope for young people facing life’s challenges. The Lock Up Challenge shines a spotlight on the organisation’s important work whilst encouraging the community to get behind the cause.

Sam Coward says he’s eager to support an initiative which is making a real difference in the lives of local young people.

“This could be the first time in my career people are actually paying to stop me talking. I’m counting on the Sunshine Coast to raise enough bail to get me out before Leon starts charging me rent!”

Founder Leon Stensholm said the event is all about bringing the community together to create positive change.

“Every dollar raised through the Lock Up Challenge helps us continue delivering programs and support services for young people who need it most. It helps reconnect our disconnected youth and keeps them safe.”
