2RRR leads the way as local community radio stations build bridges

Reporter

2RRR is leading the way in building productive networks with other Sydney community radio stations.

Following on last year’s visit to 2RDJ in Burwood, 2RRR – which is based in Ryde/Hunters Hill – invited 2NBC from Kogarah to its studios in the Henley Cottage at Gladesville last Thursday.

It’s part of 2RRR’s commitment to gradually meet other surrounding community radio stations to compare notes and encourage ongoing open communication.

2RRR Chair Dino Mancini and 2RRR Manager Natalie de Silver met with 2NBC Manager Paul McGrath and 2NBC announcer Glenn Williams, with no topic off-limits.

The discussions covered finances, revenue raising, sponsorships, technology and technical support, membership structures, presenter discipline, volunteering needs and more.

“We fitted in as much discussion as possible within three hours and still wanting,” Dino  says.

Paul agrees, saying “We’re eager to have 2RRR come to our premises to further our discussions and build a bridge between our stations.”

Natalie and Glenn could not believe the parallels in operational experience and the challenges faced.

It was readily agreed by all present that maintaining an open line would be most advantageous to both radio stations.
