Will Kyle & Jackie O be on Mix in 2014?

Staff Writer

The Sunday Telegraph are today reporting that Kyle & Jackie O will move to Mix 106.5 next year, replacing the current Sami Lukis and Yumi Stynes show.

The deal is reported to be for $1m each, well down from Kyle's $2m at 2Day, however it includes exposure through the broader Clear Channel network in the US, UK and the Middle East.

This could potentially include the TRN network in New Zealand with the CHR ZM network the likely home. The deal is also believed to contain lucrative ratings based incentives.

Talking to The Sunday Telegraph, ARN CEO Ciaran Davis fueled speculation by praising Kyle & Jackie O;

"Kyle and Jackie O are a great team – one of the best breakfast shows in the world. They have a unique on-air dynamic that is very difficult to replicate, and on first glance we believe they could work well with our audiences."

"It's not often that talent of this calibre comes along and we would be mad not to see if we could get them on board."

Notably, Davis did not comment on Yumi and Sami, who recorded a 4% share in the most recent Sydney survey, with only the under-performing 2UE on a lower commercial share.

Should the deal go ahead, it will be unwelcome news for 2Day FM, who would be facing a 'perfect storm' of their dominant Breakfast show not just leaving, but moving to a cross-town rival.

Nova 969, who would have been celebrating the news on friday, would be likely to put the champagne back in the fridge this morning whilst the machinations play out.
