Wedel Software suspends operations in Russia

The parent company of Adthos, Wedel Software, has suspended all operations in Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine.

The company conducted a lot of its research and development in Russia and launched the Adthos brand last year.

Founder Rauol Wedel shared the news on social media.

“I’m sad to announce that effective immediately, we will suspend all operations of Wedel Software in Russia,” said Wedel.

“Today’s news out of Tsjernihiv and Borodyanka is heartbreaking and are war crimes.”

“No company, person or organisation should financially support a regime deliberately killing innocent civilians.”

The post ended with an apology for Russian employees that lived through the collapse of the Soviet Union.

“For our 20 or so Russian employees we are sad that the freedoms promised in the 90s did not prevail,” said Wedel.

Wedel was questioned about the impact expected on the mentioned Russian employees, saying the decision was “heartbreaking,” but he had no choice.

“The decision was on one hand heartbreaking, on the other hand I feel we have no choice, and people must unite against these war crimes. We have employees in Donetsk, Rostov on Don, Moscow and St. Petersburg. None of them support this war, and they are just trying to provide for their families,” said Wedel

“The decision will not affect our company in the short term, but we will need to regroup our R&D in the near future. Even if the war would end soon, the country will remain unstable and sanctioned as long as Putin is in power.”

“I hope this story will make more companies consider cutting all their ties with Russia.”
