triple j hands control over to listeners with the return of Requestival

Former Editor & Content Director

Youth-focused triple j has brought back its Requestival, which sees listeners gain control of the station’s music programming for a week.

The initiative was launched last year and led to the station playing weird and wonderful songs which wouldn’t normally get a spin – everything from S Club 7 to Tiesto and Nickelback to Michael Bolton. There was even some Beethoven in the mix.

From 6am to 9pm on Monday to Friday next week, every song on the station will be a request from a triple j listener.

There’s also a ‘special surprise’ lined up for triple j’s Like A Version segment on Friday, and listeners will be shaping Live At The Wireless and the Friday Mix.

Listeners can get involved by downloading the triple j app and submitting their requests.

“Tell us about the song you had banging in your car when you first got your license. The song you can’t resist throwing down to in the club. The song you’ll die on a hill for, even though all your mates think it’s trash,” the station said.
