triple j breakfast’s Ben reveals co-host Liam’s mobile number on show (and you can guess what happened next)

It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt – or in the case of triple j’s Ben & Liam, someone has their mobile number made public.

On air and during their podcasts, Ben Harvey has slowly been revealing Liam Stapleton‘s mobile number, and listeners finally figured it out thanks to the last “donut” clue.

Since then, Liam has been swamped with contact from listeners – 1,672 calls and 3,541 text messages and counting.

“Ben’s been giving out my mobile number in ‘riddle form’ across the show… The riddles were pathetic to say the least and now I’ve been swamped with calls,” Liam explained.

“So far everyone I’ve spoken to have been quite pleasant but the phone’s been buzzing off the hook. Last night I wanted to throw my iPhone at the wall!”

Former triple j announcer Sarah Howells offered some reassurance in the comments under Liam’s Instagram post, saying “Oh shit. I’ve almost done that to myself when going on autopilot saying my number on air. Luckily I realised before I gave out alllll [sic] the numbers! Time for a new number, bro.”

Meanwhile, Aussie singer-songwriter Dean Lewis chimed in on the joke, adding “300 messages r [sic] from me sorry mate”.

With a reach of over a million listeners each week, we wonder how many calls and texts he will eventually get before changing his number?
