Tom Gleeson ribs former 2DayFM presenter Rove over failed radio show

Staff Writer

Comedian Tom Gleeson has taken an axe to ex-2DayFM host Rove McManus’ self-esteem on Hard Chat over his failed radio show with Sam Frost, which was taken off the air after only one year due to low ratings.

Tom cheerfully asks, “If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, would it have more listeners than your radio show?”

Ever the trooper, Rove responded, “Yes, it would, that was an interesting experience that one. It was great to get up early every morning…”

“And be ignored?” Gleeson interrupted.

“And be ignored and wonder, ‘Why the hell am I doing this?’” replied Rove.

The beloved TV host also reiterated his commitment to staying out of the radio world to which Tom pointed out, “Hasn’t the radio industry done that for you?”.

Rove currently has a show competing in Channel 10’s pilot week. Bring Back … Saturday Night will go up against Kyle Sandilands’ Trial By Kyle and six other shows vying for a full season run in 2019.
