Osman Faruqi & The Culture join Acast Creator Network

Staff Writer

The Acast Creator Network has added another podcast to its stable, with Osman Faruqi’s The Culture joining the fold.

Faruqi is already the editor of Schwartz Media’s 7am podcast, which is also part of the Acast network.

His new offering, The Culture, will be a weekly deep-dive into the latest and greatest in film music, television, streaming, books and art, Acast said.

It will feature interviews with local and international musicians, filmmakers, writers and other artists about their work.

Faruqi said it’s the show he’s wanted to make for some time.

“Some of my first gigs in media and journalism were writing music reviews, and throughout my career arts and culture criticism is something I’ve always come back to, so launching this podcast feels really natural for me,” he said.

“The show will be accessible, but also won’t shy away from discussing broader social themes that emerge from discussions around film, music and TV. Think of an Australian Still Processing, the NYT culture podcast.”

Acast’s content director across Australia and New Zealand, Guy Scott-Wilson, said he’s looking forward to working with Faruqi and the wider Schwartz Media team to make The Culture a success.

“As the editor of hit podcast 7am, Osman has been a big part of the Acast Creator network for some time now, so we’re thrilled to see him take on the role of host with The Culture,” he said.

“Our listeners are always on the lookout for new podcasts that talk about the entertainment content they’re passionate about, so The Culture is a perfect fit for Acast.”

New episodes will be released each Friday.
