Team Wippa has triumphed over Team Fitzy, as Backyard Cricket returned to Kirribilli House.

A host of VIPs and special guests turned out at the PM’s pad for fun-filled day with the Nova pair, in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney.

Fitzy’s team consisted of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Lynne McGranger, Colin Fassnidge, Mark Ferguson, Tim Blackwell, Nathan Lyon, Mel McLaughlin, Cam Merchant and listener Jade.

Wippa’s team included New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet, Beau Ryan, Conrad Sewell, Richard Wilkins, Ben Fordham, Dr Andrew Rochford, Matt De Groot, Brett Lee, Stella Campbell and listener Tom.

Dominic Perrottet was in charge of the coin toss to get proceedings underway, and a fiery start ensued with a clear rivalry from both teams.

Team Fitzy was up first to bat, with Prime Minister Albanese getting the team off to a cracking start.

Aussie cricket legend Nathan Lyon also proved an important asset to the team. We also saw some rather questionable bowling from Premier Perrottet who had his own John Howard moment as the ball bounced backwards at one stage during delivery.

Next, it was Team Wippa’s turn at the crease. With some great batting from Mark Ferguson and Ben Fordham, and with cricket icons Brett Lee and Stella Campbell also onboard, Team Wippa ultimately claimed victory. Needing 62 runs to win, Team Wippa passed the total with 1 wicket and 1 over to spare.

All for a special cause, $15,000 was donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney, with a cheque presented to the charity following the match.
