PERTH

Nathan, Nat and ShaunNE

  • A great day for the Nova team at Subiaco, with Nova 93.7 seeing a big jump of 1.2 to 12.5% overall.
  • Nova dominates 18-39, in fact dominates under 40, with the heritage breakfast show of ‘Nathan, Nat and Shaun’ strengthening their lead as the #1 FM station in Perth.
  • Not much more to say about Nova Perth…it’s a big result for NE in the west…champagne and lobster on Gary Roberts credit card today.

SCA

Whilst Nova have had a great day, down the road also in Subiaco, the SCA guys will be quietly pleased with the progress of hit92.9, and extremely pleased with the continued dominance of Mix94.5.

  • Mix94.5 has improved nearly a point to 14.3, and again leads Perth by a strong margin.
  • Whilst Brekky and Drive do well for Mix 94.5, it is daytimes, and the TSL it generates that really bulk up the share, the daytime figures are exceptionally strong, and the station leads by a mile.
  • hit92.9 has improved to 7.8 overall with the big increase from Brekky who have jumped to an 8.0 share overall.
  • there’s a long way to go, but hit 92.9 have snagged their first demo win, at least of the commercial stations, they are now a 19.9% with 18-24’s, ahead of Nova (but behind triple)

Mark 'Smiley' PascoeARN

  • A small decline for 96FM, and really a tale of ‘under and over 40’.
  • Under 40, 96FM copped a whack with heavy declines 18-39; over 40, the station did pretty well, growing strongly 40-64.
  • The damage was done across the workday, traditionally a stronghold for 96FM.
  • Breakfast up 0.1, and Drive up a little…too early to get any read on the introduction of Hughesy & Kate given they were not on for the survey period.

CAPITAL

  • A tidy jump of 0.4 for 6IX, with some increases MAD contributing to the growth.
  • With a fall for 6PR, 6IX might be looking to jump up a spot in coming surveys.

FAIRFAX

  • 6PR has fallen a little with the improvements 55-64 offset by losses 65+ and 40-54.
  • Afternoons were up half a point, and evenings did very well, however outside of that the other dayparts declined.
  • On 6.9 overall, 6PR is in less than ideal 10+ territory, particularly with the ABC improving.

ABC

Mixed result for the ABC in Perth, ABC720 doing okay, triplej having a rare rough day at the office in this market.

  • triplej has fallen by 1.7 to 10.3 overall, slipping behind 96FM and Nova.
  • the damage was done 18-54 – with each demo copping a whack; that said, triplej Perth is so strong, that it remains the #1 station 18-39 in the market, even with those falls.
  • Breakfast on ABC720 just gets stronger….#1 by nearly 2 points, and up again.
  • The station overall was up by 0.3 with 55-64 driving the growth.

ADELAIDE

ARN

Dom Rinaldo (Cruise)Wow what a result for Cruise. For an AM music station in a metro market it is performing unbelievably; and Mix is still pretty strong as well.

  • Cruise has jumped 1.6 overall to a 10.4 share; ahead of hit107, ahead of Triple M, ahead of triplej, and just behind ABC891.
  • Obviously Cruise received some heavy diaries 55-64, where it jumped 6%, so this may come back a touch in a survey or two, but nevertheless, it’s in the book so you take it.
  • All demos were up, by a long way. All told, a ripper day for Cruise.
  • Mix was back a little, yet remains #1 overall on a 14-share.
  • Overall the station was flat, aside from a decline in Breakfast of 1.7% which saw it fall back to a 12 share – still #1 FM.

ABC

A pretty rough day at the office at ABC Adelaide with both stations taking a haircut.

  • Some pretty ugly demos for ABC891 across the board, and unfortunately for the station, the worst ones were right in target.
  • And the dayparts don’t get prettier – BMADEW all down, breakfast down by 2 points, yet remaining #1 overall by more than 2 points.
  • triplej fell by over a point, with 18-24 and 40-54 where the damage was done. That said, 25-39 was stable, and triplej is now the #1 station in that demo, with a decline from Nova 25-39.
  • It was the workday where triplej copped it, with Mornings and Afternoons suffering reasonable falls.

NE

A kind of steady day at the office in Adelaide for Nova Entertainment, both stations pretty much held their ground overall….although the demos for Nova are a little volatile in their core.

  • FIVEaa was steady on a 12 share, with very little demo or daypart movement.
  • Expect to see an increase next survey for FIVEaa as the footy season starts to get to the business end, particularly with the Crows in the news.
  • Nova was up a touch overall, driven by an increase 40-54, which was neccesary for the station given they copped a whack 18-39; down by over 2 points – yet the station remains a strong #1 18-39.
  • As with Nova Sydney, Drive is contributing signficantly to the overall ratings with a 15.1% overall share, daytimes and breakfast are down.

Cat & AmosSCA

Well it is small increases, but both stations going up in Adelaide would be welcome news for SCA.

  • Triple M has moved up by 0.3% to 8.8 overall, with the growth coming from Breakfast and Mornings.
  • A welcome increase 40-54, although the 25-39 may be softer than ideal for Triple M.
  • hit107 has moved up to 6.7; still in last place, but at least some signs of growth.
  • The demos show a jump in teens, and 25-39’s, but a decline 18-24.
  • Most hit107 daypart growth has come from Arvos, Drive, Nights.
