Survey #1: Mackay

Ratings for Mackay & the Whitsundays in Queensland are out. It’s the markets first since 2003. 

Four commercial brands serve the region –  Grants Broadcasters 4MK, and recently launched Star 101.9 (formerly Zinc), SCA’s Hot 100.3 and 98.7 Sea FM and ABC Local Radio and their network brands.

The survey was conducted by Xtra Research and is one of 25 regional radio surveys to be undertaken this year to measure regional audiences and boost the competitiveness of regional radio.

Summary Snapshot:

• HOT FM leads the 10 plus race with 26.3% of Station Listened to Most for the market.
• SEA FM pulls-up in second spot with an 18.9% slice.
• ABC Local is third with 17.7%
• New brand Star 101.9 an even 12%.
• triple j 8% 
• And 4MK rounds it out with 5.9%.
• Anyone under 40 is HOT FM and 40-54 goes SEA FM’s way.
• 55 plus is ABC Local
• HOT FM takes all dayparts with the ABC taking nights.
