Canberra Survey #1: Mix 106.3 return to the top; impressive growth for triple j
A new year sees a new #1 station in the nation’s capital, as well as massive growth for triple j.
Mix 106.3 returned to the top position overall, stealing the crown back from ABC Canberra with a +1.7 increase to 18.1%. The Kristen & Wilko Show has found its stride as well, claiming the title of #1 Breakfast show.
While triple j’s Survey 1 growth in metro surveys is traditionally credited to Hottest 100 listeners, Canberra’s survey period falls after that January date. The improvement seen across all sessions, bolstered by a +5 bump for Breakfast’s Ben & Liam (up from 5.7% to 10.7%), could indicate genuine growth for surveys to come.
Changes to national drive lineups also had an impact, with Canberra listeners opting for local host Courts on Mix 106.3 (up 2.4%) over previous #1 Drive station hit 104.7 and their new show with Hughesy & Kate.
No mention of Ned & Josh who have done pretty well for their first big survey of the year since taking over on Hit. Surely they deserve a mention for their placing in Breakfast?? Onya lads, keep smashing away!
Well done Kristen and Wilko on getting back to number 1. A fun show to listen to on our commute to work. We also made the switch at Drive in February from 666 ABC to Mix.- Sorry 666 – too dull!
I love hearing Kennedy/Molloy on Mix in the afternoon/evening, and it’s interesting to see such a huge jump in the Mix drive and evening numbers in this survey. Will they flip to Triple M anytime soon (I say this due to the constant Triple M references that seem to pop up on air)? I used to listen to 104.7, but can’t stand Hughesy and Kate and find the music a bit irritating. Nice work Mix (or Triple M…? Hopefully…)!
Looks like Hit isn’t missing Hamish and Andy 18% Drive figure tells a story don’t it
104.7 took away the most entertaining, informative and fun duo when they sent Scotty and Nige on their way. Big mistake 104.7, you have robbed us of a great breakfast team. Miss you Scotty and Nige, please come back.
Another market in desperate need of another commercial FM station or two.
Oh Denise, that was almost 3 years ago now. Time to move on!
Hamish and Who ?????
