Spotify launches new Trending and Top Podcasts charts

Spotify has launched new Top Podcasts and Trending Podcasts charts in 26 markets globally including Australia, the US and the UK.

In an announcement to press and on their For The Record blog, Spotify revealed that the new charts are designed to help users in their discovery journey by rounding up the latest and greatest podcasts.

The Top Podcasts chart will be split into each category (ie. True Crime) across the seven markets who’ll get the rollout initially, which also includes Mexico, Brazil, Sweden and Germany.

Top Podcasts will list the over Top 200 shows in each region, while Trending Podcasts will display the Top 50 rapidly rising shows.

The streaming giant has made it simple to find both types of charts, as they are available to view on the Spotify mobile app via Search/Browse > Podcasts > Podcast Charts.

“The new podcasts charts mark a significant leap for podcast discovery, offering listeners an accurate resource for the most-listened-to and of-the-moment trending shows, while giving podcasters an opportunity to get their shows discovered.”

In addition to the new charts, Spotify has updated its Spotify For Podcasters dashboard, which will now assist creators further in keeping track of their show performance.

All podcasters on the platform will now get a notification when their podcast is charting, and will be able to then turn that into a visual card to share across social platforms.

The latest news from Spotify continues the streaming giant’s renewed focus on podcasting over the past year or so, with new initiatives including Your Daily Drive and several original podcasts launched in Australia.
