Sneak peek at Producer entries in 2023 Radio Today Podcast Awards

As we count down the weeks until the 2023 Radio Today Podcast Awards, today we take a look at some more of the great talent represented in the Producing category.

Cameron Hutchings

Category: Podcast Executive Producer of the Year:

Since joining the podcast industry in January as the Executive Producer of the Toni and Ryan Podcast, Cameron says his main priority has been seeing the show go from strength to strength through powerful and exciting content.

“Ever since she was young, co-host Toni has always dreamed of being in the world famous Qantas children’s choir ad, yet was always told as a Perthian, this dream could never be achieved,” says Cameron.

“This year through the podcast we’ve finally been able to head out across Australia and deliver this beautiful piece of content, and to realise Toni’s lifelong dream. Rousing the team to push boundaries of content, to think about how we can go above and beyond for deliverable content, to saying “how can we”? instead of “what if” has seen us film in the outback of Alice Springs, down the coast on Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, and on the steps of the Sydney Opera House with our very own choir made up of more than willing TARPers (Toni and Ryan Podcasters), and has produced one of the more beautiful and inspirational pieces of podcast content this year.”

Kristen Amiet

Category: Podcast Audio Producer of the Year

Kristen says she assisted with the ‘grunt work’ on The Teacher’s Trial: booking studios, wrangling voice actors, managing scripts, and circulating edits for review.

“I did the grunt work all right – often falling into bed at 2am after marathon days – and also increasingly assisted with scripting, complex legal discussions, web publishing, and social promotion.”

“I’m proud to say the series has been downloaded well in excess of eight million times.”

In the rare lulls between court appearances, Kristen began work on a number of The Australian’s other podcast titles.

“I took on the producer role on The Front – The Australian’s daily news podcast – transitioning from the complex and meticulous work of investigative journalism to the fast pace of the daily news cycle.”

“For four out of five days, I leverage the expertise of The Australian’s newsroom to write scripts, conduct interviews, direct sound design, review edits, and publish episodes for promotion across the paper’s suite of platforms and titles. I also host a minimum of one episode per week.”
