SCAsat Smarts Unveiled

Staff Writer

Southern Cross Austereo recently wrapped up a huge rollout across their 78 plus sites to change the way they distribute audio across their network.

In the past most went down a satellite or ISDN path.  The SCA Engineer guys have hooked into a seamless combo of a Wide Area Network stream (WAN) and Satellite. The two systems run parallel with redundancy – the ability to handle five time zones – time shift and three data channels all at the same time. Once more it’s the programming guys that handle the audio network scheduling.

We can only guess just a little bit of coin has been spent on the project – which has taken two years to make happen.

Take a look as Steve Adler and Matt Steadman step through how it all works.
