SCA’s George Sargent: “The OB that will stay in my heart forever”
George Sargent has been a part of many memorable outside broadcasts over the years.
But the Triple M Mid North Coast brekky announcer says there’s one in particular that will stay in his heart forever.

Last weekend, ‘Sarge’ teamed up behind the mic with none other than Aussie country music legend Lee Kernaghan as Triple M broadcast live from Kempsey, the home of the Akubra.
“For so many reasons it was special,” said Sarge. “But mainly because I got to meet the King of Country himself and even sing with him in front of one of the most incredible crowds I’ve ever seen.”
Sarge says his family grew up on Lee’s music, and his dad would have to be one of Lee’s biggest fans.

“He couldn’t make it to the show but Lee made sure he felt part of it by jumping on a call with him, chatting about the early days, touring life, and signing an Outback Club Akubra for my old man. That meant the world.”
“Lee’s one of the busiest people in the industry, but he always finds time for others. That day, I watched him do the same thing for hundreds of fans, shaking hands, posing for photos, listening, laughing, giving people his full attention. I met people who’d travelled interstate just to be there, and I can guarantee you every one of them left with a new core memory.”
Sarge says what he’s learned from the experience is that giving back feels really, really good.
“Watching it unfold, and feeling the ripple effect, was something else.”
