30 Under 30 winner Sandy Rogers departs radio

Former Editor & Content Director

One of radio’s top 30 young talents in radio is leaving the medium.

Sandy Rogers was one of three sales executives to take out a place on Radio Today’s 30 Under 30 list, the winners of which were revealed in late November.

At the time of his win, Rogers was a group sales manager at Southern Cross Austereo (SCA).

He kicked off his radio career in 2015 as an account manager, before his elevation to group sales manager in 2019.

In 2021, however, he will take on the head of sales role at SpokenLayer, which describes itself as “the leading provider of voice content for virtual assistants and connected devices”.

His new role kicks off on February 1.

On LinkedIn late last year, Rogers said the audio game is evolving quickly and he thinks it’s a “bloody exciting time”.

He also spelled out what he loved about his time at SCA – the people, the campaigns and the culture.

“Over this period, I have had the privilege of working with and more importantly learning from some of the most creative, talented, and fantastic people on a product that I love,” he said.

“I have been involved in some great campaigns, media firsts (don’t we love it), worked across a range of terrific agencies and had some humbling award-winning moments.

“However, the fondest memories over this period are undoubtedly filled with the people I have been able to rub shoulders with every day. Radio (or should I say audio) companies in Australia are a fair-dinkum fun place to work and the most underrated aspect is that individuality is celebrated.”
