Radio shows are giving away TP as #toiletpapergate worsens

With #toiletpapergate gripping Australia amid fears of a coronavirus outbreak, radio stations have taken advantage of dwindling toiler paper supplies.

Multiple Breakfast shows on Wednesday, March 4 – including Kyle & Jackie O on KIIS 106.5 – were giving away free toilet paper to any listener who got through.

Jackie O admitted that she was freaked out about running out of the stuff, telling fill-in co-host Beau Ryan.

“It is really bad! Yesterday like everywhere, even chemists, you go into a chemist and they’re like, ‘Sorry sold out’,” she said.

“They say that it won’t take long to restock toilet paper,” said newsreader Brooklyn Ross. “That’s something that, like Kleenex has a factory in South Australia that runs 24/7 making toilet paper and they say they can make more.”

“Yeah it’s the doomsday preppers that are ruining it for everyone right?” said Jackie. “It’s a knock-on effect. So when it comes out today I’m not just gonna get one pack I’ll get ten big packs.”

In proof it’s not just major cities in the grips of a loo paper crisis, A.B & Ben on Hit105.5 Coffs Coast were offering the chance for listeners to win a roll.

“I always thought that when it hit the Mad Max apocalypse it would be water we’d be fighting over. Turns out it’s TP,” said Ben.

Sunrise are doing this alarmist crap,” said A.B. “It’s frightening stuff, media organisations jump on it, they make it sound scarier than it is.”

“So we’ve decided to give away a roll. If you need a roll, we’re gonna sort you out,” added Ben.

Ben’s comedy is literally the most underrated thing about him. It’s SO good! Would definitely be worth checking out his stand up show in Newcastle coming up.
