Radio Revenue strengthens

Staff Writer

Following five consecutive months of growth, the full year radio advertising revenue figures have been released, showing overall growth through the financial year.

Commercial Radio Australia has today released the figures, sourced by Deloitte, which demonstrate a robust financial performance from the commercial radio sector, despite an uncertain economy.

For the 12 months to 30 June, metropolitan revenue reached $638.5m, an increase of 0.41% in FY12.

Perth led the way, improving 4.4% to $94.7m, Melbourne grew 1.3% to $207.5m, Sydney was flat at $210.0m, whilst Adelaide fell by 2.1% to $64.2m and Brisbane by 2.2% to $107.2m.

CRA CEO Joan Warner (pictured) commented that the results highlight radio’s resilience in an unpredictable media market, in the face of fluctuating business and consumer confidence;

“Radio continues to perform in an increasingly competitive media landscape. The industry is adapting to shifting market conditions and this is reflected in the figures"
