Radio legend Muriel Cooper launches new book on how to cope when the s**t hits the fan
Muriel Cooper’s radio career as a top rating talk show host on Melbourne’s 3AW and the ABC spanned two decades before she left the media world to study behavioural science and become a psychologist.
Now, she practises on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula and is also a successful writer and author.

Tonight sees launch of her latest book, Up Shit Creek in a Barbed Wire Canoe (And How To Cope With It) with former ABC Radio Melbourne Breakfast host Sammy J to do the official honours.
Up Shit Creek in a Barbed Wire Canoe is, as fellow author Liz Hicklin puts it, “An extremely serious book masquerading as a funny one. I wish I’d had a copy 30 years ago.”

It explains why swearing can be good for you and how to deal with shit and shit stirrers (Muriel is very good at this, having interviewed no end of politicians) and how to cope when the shit hits the fan.
And it’s not one of those long, wordy books that eat up your brain space … this one roughly a hundred pages long, packed with humour and practical advice.
Up Shit Creek in a Barbed Wire Canoe will be published on 1 May 2025
