Triple M host Pablo Miller is running 5kms every day for a year to raise funds for Children’s Medical Research Institute

Staff Writer

Triple M’s Breakfast host in Karratha, Pablo Miller, is approaching his milestone of running five kilometres every day for a year.

His first run was on March 31 last year when COVID hit and gyms shut down, so if he keeps going for the next week, he will have clocked up 365 days.

This first year of consistent running was for him, he said, but this coming year will be about fundraising for the Children’s Medical Research Institute.

His daughter, Charlotte, was born with a rare genetic condition which meant multiple hospital check-ups and sleepless nights. You can donate to his efforts here. Miller currently has a $5,000 goal.

“Thankfully after four years, her condition is on the minor side, but there are plenty of kids who aren’t,” he said. “I’m running for them and their parents.”

He also thanked his listeners and supporters for their encouragement thus far.

“I’m not a runner, and if you had of said last year I would have clocked up nearly 2,000 kilometres I’d have laughed you out of the room,” he said. “But the support and encouragement from all the Triple M listeners has been overwhelming and kept me going day after day.”

If the government’s got money for guns and bombs, they’ve got money for research. I’d instead be giving the money directly to help kids and their parents with their medical and living expenses. Just a thought.
