Official cheque handover for the 2TM and 92.9fm Bra-B-Q
2TM and 92.9fm Tamworth this week handed over a cheque to Serendipity Tamworth for the grand total of $6057.80, which was raised throughout October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Both stations play an important role throughout the month raising awareness with on air interviews from various organisations that are available to the local community including Susan Goodwin from Serendipity Tamworth, Shaen Fraser from Cancer Council Tamworth, the region’s McGrath nurse Pam Mallon, Deanna Chapman and Stevie Reading from The Treatment Trend Co as well as Judy Grierson from the Tamworth and District Breast Cancer Support Group, to name just a few.
The stations then held a Bra-B-Q in the Fitzroy Plaza, inviting other stakeholders to join in, including Rebel Sport, D’Lish on Wheels and Total Tools, all of whom donated part of the proceedings on the day to Serendipity.
The stations thanked A1 Hire Tamworth for the loan of a BBQ; Kevin Anderson MP for supplying the food and condiments, and the team at PRD Tamworth for cooking the barbie.

Serendipity is a local Tamworth NFP charity, which raises funds for the improvements of local facilities and patient needs associated with breast cancer including purchasing equipment and providing care packs to women undergoing treatment for breast cancer in the New England and the North West.
2TM and 92.9fm would sincerely like to thank each of the following people and Tamworth businesses who donated items for raffle prizes to help raise funds: Links Airways for the major raffle prize of return flights for two from Tamworth to Brisbane, Centrepoint Tamworth, Viaduct Carpet Court, PRD Tamworth and Sweet Secrets Lingerie for Giftcards and AM Printing Tamworth for designing and donating the raffle tickets.
This year’s campaign saw two competitions added to help involve the community more. The first was the La-De-Bra competition, where listeners were invited to decorate a bra for a chance to win return flights for two from Tamworth to Brisbane thanks to Link Airways.
The stations also ran a kids’ colouring in competition, for a chance to win one of three family passes to the movies, all thanks to Forum 6 Cinemas Tamworth.
General Manager Nikki Kenwrick said “2024 has been our third year of supporting the important message of Breast Cancer Awareness month with our listeners. Radio is the perfect platform to let the community know what services are available locally, and how to access them as well as some fun ways to help raise money, that also stays local. We look forward to supporting this event again next October.”
